Yesterday I spent the day at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for Fan Expo 2008 (my first Comic Con ever!). Loved every minute of it.
I brought along my portfolio, business cards, and camera - if there was one BIG thing that I regretted yesterday, it was the fact that I didn't take enough decent pics.
As expected of course, there were the Cosplayers.
I arrived at the Fan Expo around 11-ish, and there was already a large crowd inside. During the day, more people kept coming in...

The Fan Expo had 5 genres displayed (comics, sci-fi, anime, horror, and gaming) so the room of course was separated into different sections. I hung around mostly in the Artist Alley and met/chatted with some of the artists...
(which, I may add, is quite uncharacteristic of me since I tend to be shy and the very thought of saying, "Hi! I'm an illustrator!" and then show them my work terrifies me!!!...and I also regret not taking a picture of Artist Alley...wow...)
ANYways, back to the Con.

I apologize for the poor quality of the pics. I don't know if you can see it very well, but it's Bobba Fett and another Bounty Hunter about to take the life of one of the fans...

There were lots and lots of "bodies" on display in the Horror section, of course....

There was also a huge retail section. Besides comic books and graphic novels, you could also buy t-shirts, dvds, posters, costumes, jewelery, chainmail, swords, action figures, etc.
As for the Cosplayers, there was a lot of variety of characters, but there was also A LOT of Star Wars, Naruto characters, Japanese school girls, Bleach characters, and Batmans.
But one of the best costumes that I MANAGED to get on camera was....

I still think I would be pretty out of place at this convention! ;-)
You still have to go sometime! Just think of all the pics you could take!
And whenever I get my own booth, then you HAVE to go. No ifs and buts.
