The Magic Rose and An Unexpected Loss

"Many, many years ago, in a sad, faraway land, there was an enormous black mountain made of rough, black stone. At sunset, on top of that mountain, a magical rose blossomed every night that made whoever plucked it immortal. But no one dared go near it because its thorns were full of poison. Men talked amongst themselves about their fear of death, and pain, but never about the promise of eternal life. And every day, the rose wilted, unable to bequeath its gift to anyone...forgotten and lost at the top of that cold, dark mountain, forever, alone, until the end of time."
-From the 2006 film Pan's Labyrinth

In memory of Lisa, who passed away this past Friday, and is not suffering anymore.

In life, there is death. And in death, there is life.

Imagine my awe when I read this the night after I (for the first time) saw Pans Labernith.

Sorry to hear about Lisa:(

I am sorry to hear about Lisa, she sounds like she was a wonderful person from reading your mother's blog. The passage from Pan's Labyrinth is oddly and perfectly fitting and thought provoking.

I couldn't believe how relevant this movie was - I watched it for the first time on the same day when Lisa died.

Ditto...as dark as the film was, it was also comforting in a strange way.
